i'm confused by your measurement of this item you say 3 yards / 36 inches. wouldn't that be one yard. or is it 1 yard.s in 3 feet

There are 36 inches in 1 yard, also 3 feet in 1 yard and twelve inches in 1 foot. Three 12 inch rulers would measure a yard or a tape measure can have several yards.
