no. all it takes is 2 AA batteries.

im not sure what you mean, it works with batteries, there is a battery pack thing you can buy that takes the place of the batteries. i used to have that, I dont know what happened to it. but who ever wins i will send the car charger and the wall charger in case you decide you want to go to game stop and get the battery pack thing.
