Description

The listing, Chinese Faux Ivory Bone Bead Necklace has ended.

Very old Chinese graduated bone hand carved beads made to look like ivory has a beautiful patina of age and is about 15" in length. There is no clasp, you simply put it over your head.It is loosely strung, and could be restrung though I don't really think it's necessary.

yes listerena! I know what you mean about "made in China" because I go to the Dollar store all the time too--lol--I used to have a REAL Chinese court robe--from the Imperial Court of China(turn of the century)--all silk with gorgeous embroidery too--(but of course that was an antique!)--when I think of all the plastic in the ocean larger than the state of Texas I can tell you what I think of the companys who make all that crap--yes--I am a TREE HUGGER too! lol and chatty all the way! TY for offering free shipping on these beautiful beads! Although I can't see them in "real time" they look to be from the 1920's because that would explain the long length--flappers like the long length of beads--and that would explain the patina on the beads too--

Lol! Yes, I know what you mean about the Robes! I have some antique pieces of embroidery made from silk robes(I don't think were Imperial, not sure about that but they were certainly very beautifully made! And yes, all that plastic in the ocean is a terrible thing. I'm a fish hugger , too, aside from being a tree hugger! Haha!!(I also like to eat fish! Without the PCBs, mercury, fishing line, beer cans plastic 6 packers, plastic bags, ect, ect. inside of them!!

Hi sweetheart,I just got back from the bank I was trying to get a loan to pay the S&H, LOL I should get the award for chattiest of all. I am 47 and permanently disabled and for the last year and half they have me homebound. I hope you know what thaqt means I only have 4 walls to talk too, so if I find a human to talk to and they see me click on like facebook etc. they all run and hide. LOL No I don't get a complex because of it I just catch them on another site. LMAO No just kidding I like to talk a lot if Im in a good conversation but Im not a stalker. I really just wanted to say these are beautiful beads I hope I can stay in long enough to win them TY,Wendy AKA babygirl215

Hi Wendy, Lol! I'd don't mind chatty people! I'm an artist and we spend most of our time alone, I find Facebook is a nice relief from being alone, and being a nightowl , I can't find adults to talk to anytime of day or night! Even if they live in Turkey, China, Africa or wherever it's kool! Sorry to here you are housebound! That's a drag! But you are welcome anytime here, to pop in and say hi. Glad you like the beads! Good luck!

I'm totally chatty listerena! such beautiful and classic beads! I can see these being worn with a black dress--I used to have a vintage clothing biz--I really appreciate the older jewelry--you just can't get the good quality like you used to anymore either..

So true! So much of today's jewelry is just junque! I wish it was of more quality, all the things we make in the world will mostly likely still be around in a hundred or more years, I think companies should be more conscientious to make great things. This was made in China, but probably 100 yrs ago, or so, now from China comes all kinds of plastic tacky stuff, things have changed! Don't get me wrong! The Chinese still make beautiful things! But the vast majority, are things we won't want in 100 years! But being plastic, it ain't going away! It would be nice if they thought about that more!

If you have a PayPal account, you need to make sure it's set up to accept payments...then you just give the buyer your connected email address for them to make payment to you...

PayPal for shipping? and are they plastic? or ox bone?
Sep 14th, 2013 at 2:07:21 PM PDT by
Original
Well, to be honest, I have never used paypal , but I would like to try to figure it out (you might have to "Splain" it to me! Lol! But I'm game if you are! Lol!! And no they are NOT plastic!! They ARE bone, but are the OX< I have no clue! Is there a way to tell? Are there other types of bone they used? All I can tell you is that each is different , some cut at slightly different angles, and different depths in the carving, if you understand what I mean, the larger ones you can see what I call "Pores", like bone has, that is tiny holes that in some places run from top to bottom of the bead (ivory doesn't have that, nor does plastic, only bone does)

Ok I upped the starting bid amount because I changed to a premium auction since no-one had bid, now you can also use a GIN , and I extended the days . Because this auction was getting buried deep in Listia and wasn't getting visiblity and it's much too beautiful of a necklace to let it go for a song. It's as old as my great grandmother who owned it! It's a real antique!
