It has a ring under the bottom that you can drop oils onto in different areas on the ring to create a magnificant scent that will permeate through out your room! Diffusers are used to create calming and relaxing moods through the scents that your offactory system enjoys!! This is clean and like new it has been sitting unused for a while, however, I plugged it in the outlet and it works just as new, you need to get a new ring from the Whole Foods store or someplace that sells Aromatherpy supplies!!
