Antique teardrop shape opal earrings. Beautiful and way more interesting in person!! (real silver I believe because every time they have tarnished I can polish them back to life. :)

When viewed from the side is the curved top clear? I believe you have a very nice pair of foil earrings. My daughter collects rings of such and they are like these.

The curved top isn't clear, I can see the reflective pieces inside from all angles. Since they are very set into the silver you can only just barely see the shape at all.

Do you think these are triplets? or are they real fire opals? I think they would be more milky if there were true opals (or fire opals) Do you know the provenance?

They look more like the triplet kind. I am not 100% of what they are. I can tell you the stone patterns are consistant throughout both stones. I tried to post an additional close up picture but since the auction ends soon it wouldn't let me.
