I just tried one on and it stretched far enough to fit me. I think they are for children though.

I was hoping they were for kids-I am bidding for a gift for my nephew. Is the loose string in the picture just something to snip off or is it going to need more major repair?

It's a string from where the basketball is embrossed on the wristband.
