Description

The listing, 6 Women's Watches (Sorry they're Mine not My Grandma's)!!! has ended.

Hello Listia members!!! Today I'm auctioning off every watch I own. It's not because I don't want to know what time it is, nope I've n warn my poor hubbies ears asking that question at least a zillion times a day!! It's because I have Huntington's Disease (HD) which is a very rare disorder and fatal. It affects the whole body differently. The frontal lob of the brain is affected the most, when autopsies are done on folks with HD the brain matter in the frontal lobe is gone.. So at this point in my disease my short term memory is so bad that I if look at a watch, see what time it is, put my arm down, and I'll already have forgotten what time it is!! Great for you, sucks for me!!

Picture #2 - The first watch is a "Kahuna" dive watch. Its water resistant down to 100' (I've dove with this one at least 20 and it still looks awesome. The bezel rotates and it has a green face and black velcro band. Watch #2 same picture - this one is a Harvey Davidson, stainless steel with a blue face. It's the only watch in the group that doesn't adjust, so keep that in mind!!

Picture #3 - I designed and rebuilt my Anne Klein II watch and a copper and brass cuff bracelet wire and blue and green beeds!!

Picture #4 - It's a "Storm" stainless steel with a blue face and stretchable band!!!

Picture #5 - Is a wannabe "Timex" dive watch (although I wouldn't brush my teeth with this one on) in a gorgeous shade of purple with an adjustable velcro band!!!!

Picture #6 - Vintage "Timex" stainless steel, white face and a band that twists around!!!!

The only thing wrong with these watches is they all need batteries.
So here's the deal, you must be listia verified to win!!! I'll pay shipping to remove this daily reminder that my brain is shrinking!! I'll also throw in a surprise if this auction goes over $2000!!!!

Love and positive energy to ya! I am an EEG tech, retired... (so you know my kind, hope it wasn't a terrible experience, applogize if it was) and just lost my mom this week. Hope you have lots of fun and few hassles on Listia like we did! She was " damsiteRR" age 88 and had over 500 auctions completed in the last 3 years! We kept all the details in a little spiral notebook and sometimes still couldn't remember what we had done! LOL! Remember; yesterday is history, tomorrow is the future but today is a GIFT that's why it's called "the present"!

Hi Patpen05,

Try to think positive. That will really help. I am 62 and I am forgetting things. I can do something and forgot what I just did or remember what I am looking for. This just started the last 6 months or so I think. I have not told my doctor yet. I too love lista and have made a lot of friends. I find some people are rude though. Watching, Fanned and bidding. Thank you. God Bless you. Helen

You're so right about being positive!! Most of the symptoms I have with HD aren't treatable. Keeping my attitude happy is the best thing I've got!! Nuangelmarshall please make an appointment with your Dr!! You're You're too special to give up!!!

Hey patpen. I'm going through my list of fans and doing my daily check-ins to say hi and watch their auctions and such and saw your story. I don't have HD, but have mitochondrial disease (another genetic, every-part-of-your-life-affected disorder involving brain, nerves, muscles, etc.) But, it's not over til it's over, right? We just gotta take advantage of what we have and who we have to share it with. Hugs. Also, I need a watch so I'm putting in a bid. :-)

you recently won a bid on a set of earrings that perfectly match a pendant that my wife owns and I was wondering if you would possibly be willing to part with them? I am serious and if possible please contact me at rcaddy40@Yahoo.com. this is very important to me. thanks for your time and help.

I'm so sorry to hear about your mom, mine died in 93 from HD. It changed my world. I've been listiaing for a few months but I feel like I've found extended family I didn't know about!!! 500 auctions is amazing!!! I just got my 5 auction badge!!! I have freecycled for years first in the Phoenix area (inbox full of emails every day) and then in a tiny spit in the dirt town in Northeast Texas (I get a monthly email covering the rules!!!!) I really love listia, every one has extremely nice to me (and who doesn't love having fans!!!) Ms Altersewfittingly, you're any inspiration!!! Thanks!!

I was diagnosed earlier this year but the worst symptoms started last fall. Nine months of tests, wheelchairs, losing a job, and losing some muscle and nerves to biopsy before the neuromuscular specialist finally figured it out. They are still doing advanced genetic testing to see what version/complications I might encounter. There is a high chance of passing it on to potential children if I have certain types, so hubby and I are still deciding on the kido question. Of course, these days I would be of so little help raising them... It's hard. But everyday is a lucky day to be here and try again. If you don't mind me asking, how old are you? I'm 30 and going through this. I had just started my career-literally was in my first job out of graduate school-and now everything this different. Of course, I like to think my priorities and the way I live is much better than ever before.

I'm 47 now but I was 34 when I was diagnosed and I had genetic testing done 28 (the year after they found the gene in 93). I have two older sisters who chose not to be tested and aren't symptomatic. I've have one son who's 30, hasn't been tested (he has a 50% chance of inheriting it from me), he's getting married next year and him and his fiance are contemplating having kids without going to a genetic counselor or testing. I blame myself because I live in Texas and he lives in Arizona. I try to see him once a year but I think he misses too many of days when HD wins to understand the magnitude of the disorder. Juvenile Huntington's Disease is only passed down from the father (through gene expansion) to there children. It's the worst form of the disease. I've suggested adoption but they don't like the idea. I utterly understand the insight and outs of genetic disorders. The only thing I change if I could is my son being at-risk.. Teambeattie, I really understand what you're going through, if I can help at all I'm here for you!!!
