So how does this really work?
What doez it actually use to hold things together?

There is a green part you will see within the stapler on the third picture of the stapler, when you press the two handles together, the green hinge pops out and cuts a flap into the corner of your papers, folds it on itself, and tucks in a tiny paper pocket. :-) It is a stapler that slices and tucks paper together to join them together. :-)
