OPA ration tokens were issued by the United States federal Office of Price Administration to the US public as food consumers beginning in 1941 and then from 1942 until 1945.

Rationing began following the attack on Pearl Harbor during World War II in an effort to conserve.

Offered is a single RED POINT OPA token with front and reverse shown.

The two letter combination on this token is "VC" (I have other combinations of letters and plan to separately offer in a following auction a "VY" as well if you collect these tokens and are seeking a particular letter combination, please let me know.)

Research indicates there were 30 varieties of these tokens based on two different letter combinations on each side of the number "1" (both sides of the token point are the same), however, printed upside down from each other.

This dime sized 16 mm small compressed wood fiber pulp token type coin or celluloid, as metals were in short supply for the war effort, would have been used for meat and butter purchases and exchange for rationing stamps.

Very readable embossed print In generally decent condition considering this token is at least 67 years old.
