Description

The listing, Very nice Sony e-reader has ended.

Hardly used e-reader (2 yrs. old) in original box with manual and USB for downloading e-books and articles. Some classic books and short stories are already pre-loaded for you. Works wonderfully but I just prefer old fashioned hard copy books these days to take while I travel. This is not for wireless downloading but USB works great.

The PRS-300SC (as being auctioned here) is a very nice reader. I can vouch for this, as I have owned one for over a year now. It will .ePub, .txt, and .PDF files, even image-heavy .PDF files, such as digital manga.

It's major downfall, besides being discontinued in Late 2010, is that it has no slot to add a memory card for more space....space that would be very much needed as the PRS-300 only has 440MB internal space. It also cannot play .mp3 files, so will not play audiobooks. And, it does not have Wi-Fi or 3G, either. And, it is NOT backlit, but you can buy a Sony case made for it that comes with a booklight.

But, if you want a good eReader instead of an iPod or a tablet, this one would be good for you.

Thanks for commenting on my auction. You did a much better job of explaining the capabilities of this reader than I can.

I hook the USB directly into my laptop to charge and that usually takes about 3 hours (maybe slightly more) to charge. The red light will turn green on the unit when it's fully charged and then you're good to go.

@Babyhon39: If it want to charge it via the wall, you need to buy a PSP charger.

If you have a computer that you can download Nook study you can keep you large library on it and just take one book at a time on this e-reader. For me when i am at dialysis this would be great. I could read one book at a time and keep all the rest on my computer at home. F&W

in fine condition since I only used it a few times. Hope you like it if you get it!
