Description

The listing, FDC First Day Cover 1946 Iowa Stamp has ended.

The winner of this auction will receive a fairly unique piece of postal history. This is a First Day Cover (FDC) envelope cancelled August 3, 1946 in Iowa City, Iowa - the origin of this stamp. The photo on the left is original artwork that goes along with the stamp. On that day, the stamp attached to the upper right hand corner was released into circulation. The stamp is the 3-cent variety and was issued to celebrate the Centennial of Iowa's Statehood. If you look closely (sorry for the blurry photo) you will see that this stamp also has part of the original plate serial number of 23468.

There is no address available on the envelope but it is as I got it, still in wonderful condition. I don't collect FDCs - this is part of a massive stamp hoard that I found while in an antique store in Central Iowa last spring.

I will ship for free, but will only ship to US ADDRESSES and those US addresses that are LISTIA VERIFIED - no exceptions!

Here is your opportunity to own a cool piece of US Postage history... for free! Thanks for looking and good luck with the bidding!
