FROM ING.COM: The first issue of The Dead Boy Detectives is, in a word, charming. Or if you'll allow me the luxury of two words: absolutely charming...The plot is one part murder mystery, one part ghost story, and one part meet-cute. Our eponymous ghostly sleuths, Charles and Edwin, hover over London as a self-indulgent act of performance art goes terribly awry, resulting in the temporary death of Crystal Palace, the tech-savvy daughter of the artists in question. Though Crystal is dead for only a minute, it's enough to establish the beginnings of a bond between herself, Edwin, and (especially) Charles, who develops a bit of a crush on the spunky Crystal. Inspired by her momentary crossover to the other side, Crystal elects to enroll at St. Hilarion's, the boarding school where our dead boy detectives met their untimely ends. The duo follows Crystal back to their old stomping grounds to get to the bottom of the mystery at the heart of St. Hilarion's. There's something desperately rotten going on at the school, and one gets the sense that we're at the start of a marvelous adventure.
