The listing, HEAT DIFFUSER has ended.

The heat diffuser is aluminum and has a wooden handle. The leather strap has been replaced with string. Must be used on a gas stove. I bought this at an antique store many years ago. Checks or money orders accepted.

And yes, I absolutely agree with you, it assuredly is a heat diffuser for a gas range.

No. It is not a bed warmer. Bed warmers have long handles and they are not made of wood. This item is only about 15 inches long. There are several of them listed on ebay and other places.

Splatter guard. You use this to put on top of a pot or pan to keep the contents from splattering on the stove. That is why there are different heights on it so that it sits comfortably on the pot or pan. Enjoy the auction.

This is not a spatter guard. It is a heat diffuser which means it diffuses the heat away from the bottom of the pan so that the food will not stick. You could probably use it the way you mentioned but the food would come out of the holes.
