Daikon is a root vegetable said to have originated in the Mediterranean and brought to China for cultivation around 500 B.C. The word Daikon actually comes from two Japanese words: dai (meaning large) and kon (meaning root). These can be planted in early spring for use in salads, or in late summer to use as a storage vegetable over winter. They do not grow well in the heat of middle summer, but do not fret if a few go to flower. The seed pods are also an incredibly tasty vegetable in itself. I prefer the young seed pods to the radish. They make excellent dipping & snacking veggies. 60-70 days

This Auction: You will be receiving 15 seeds from my
garden. They will be sent First Class mail. I am happy to say that my seeds tested 99-100% germination within 2 weeks at a temp of 70°F. Good for beginners!

Propagation Method: From seed, sow directly in the garden about an inch deep and 2 inches apart. Thin seedlings to about 6" apart. Fall harvests tend to yield better radishes than spring crops.
