So, on the 40 or so missing studs, are there any holes or damagers where the studs were at? I am wondering how were the other ones attached prongs or glue? Thanks.

There are no holes or tears where the 40 or so studs were at, They were glued on. I hope this helps.

I know it will still look great even if there are some stones missing --my hat had a similar cross design(glued rhinestones) but now lots of them are missing and some people think it's a galaxy or something--lol

Well from the pic I think the Cross look good. I didn't even notice until you asked me about the studs. Things to pay attention to lol! Thank you You could go to Micheal's or Hobby Lobby to get the studs and the glue. Or Tandy Leather
