I would not recommend useing it for a regular nose piercing but if you're wanting to pierce your septum, they're great for it. With lip they would be a little to big but would still work and would be easier to get jewlery in.

My friend used the same size needle to pierce her lip and it worked pretty well. It also healed faster.
