I have no clue about stamps. What does never hinged mean?

Hinging is a way of mounting a stamp using an adhesive "hinge" to hang it on the paper. Many people use "Mounts" now that prevent the hinge damage done to a stamp by disturbing the original gumming surface when a "hinge" is applied. A hinge will leave a mark on the reverse of the stamp decreasing it's value to some collectors.
