This 32 piece black and white chess set's pieces have faces except for one. Some of the chess piece bottoms need felt replacements.

The pawn's faces have mustaches. The knight's faces look like a Greek or Trojan warrior. The rook faces look like sheiks.

Questions & Comments

Chess is from Persia and India. Checkmate is Persian for the king is dead. Persian chessman consisted of two men on elephants, two men on horseback, two men on camels, a vizier and a king plus pawns.

Chess in the Christian world went through some noticeable changes: out with the two men on camels and in with two bishops; out with the vizier and in with the queen, out with the two men on elephants and in with the rooks.

One piece is missing and another piece was substituted, thus no face???? or did the face fall off and got lost???? just curious???

It came that way. I had to substitute a plastic white pawn to complete the chess set. Some of felt on the bottom of the pieces needs to be repaired.

One plastic white faceless pawn is substituted for the missing regular pawn.
