Suede is leather, the difference is the way it is finished. The main difference between suede and leather is that suede is a finished type of leather. Suede has a velvet type of texture whereas leather is plain and smooth.
You might call suede the “inside out” leather, because its surface is the inside of the hide, not the epidermis/ or what we call the outer skin.
