I don't understand why it matters if they are vintage or not. If you like them bid on them. If you don't, go on to another auction. It's not like you are trying to get more credits because of the word vintage. I think that they are really cool looking. Good luck with your auction. I am a fan and watching.

They came in a box with everything that was vintage from Japan. Maybe they are from the 70's??? I get everything from estate sales. If you look at my other auctions you can kind of judge what I pick up and the general era it comes from. If you are not comfortable with the description then please pass on this auction.

HI, I am new to this site and these caught my eye. I had this set years ago, and yes was 70"s or early 80"s. Very cute then and now!

I absolutely love this.
I got tickled by the person that said this was made to look vintage. It's funny the way that word is so freely used right now. When I first started seeing it used all the time, I didn't understand. Vintage is a term used in winemaking/ But from what i gather now it is used to describe something that comes from a favorable, or well thought of era. To my understanding that would be the late 40's, 50's, 60's, 70's, and early 80's. That's a pretty broad area. Does anybody else have a better explanation? Sincerely, I really would like to know if there is a better definition.
Whenever or where ever this is from, I would sure like to have it.

Hi! First of all I fanned you as soon as I saw your comment posted for the sheer reason that someone actually took the time to think about this. I looked up the word "Vintage" on dictionary.com. Most of the definition did pertain to wine-making. Then at the very bottom this was listed:

Representing the high quality of a past time: vintage cars; vintage movies.

I hope this helps and I hope to have many more "Vintage" Salt and Pepper Shakers listed in the future. Good Luck.

Love these to! The rule of thumb I have learned is 20 yrs old at least to be called vintage and 100 or more for antique. Hope that helps ya :)

That sounds about right. They should have a category for vintage and antique.
