Questions & Comments
These are beautiful! Now sorry to ask this bc I am learning about Rhodium plating. I didn't realize it is used on white gold....lol. When you say silver is it Rhodium plated over Sterling Silver? F&W...I love these
I bought the piece as rhodium plated silver which means it is rhodium over fine silver or 925 silver. I listed the ring as silver since that was the way it was described when i bought it. It does not have the 925 mark but for all purposes since it was bought as silver i would say it is 925 in my opinion that is because fine silver is 999 and much more expensive. Rhodium plating is simply to protect the silver and give a much more shinier look than that of un plated silver, it is also used on white gold to give it a shinier appearance. When you have a rhodium plated piece it is important to not use regular silver cleaner or a silver polishing cloth on it just wash the ring in mild soapy water and it will clean it. Don't expose it to regular jewelry cleaners as this can damage the rhodium and cause it to flake, thus resulting in have to have the ring replated to restore the shiny lustre. Thank you for watching my auction and i fanned you also!! :-)

Yeah see I learned the whole Rhodium over white gold the hard way. My current wedding set, is the same my mom had when she was married to my dad. He passed away when I was 8 so these are special but I really shouldn't be wearing then constantly and then yeah I was at first using regular jewelry cleaners. I read though I can get them Rhodium replated again but it's not that cheap.
Yes they can be replated but as you said it is not cheap depending on the ring it can run anywhere from $50 dollars to several hundred that is why when i sell something with rhodium plating i am sure to tell them not to use regular jewelry cleaner on it. a simple warm soapy water is all it need to make it shine because it rarely will tarnish.
