Description

The listing, Vintage Uranium Glass Greek Key Fern Vase/Planter has ended.

This is a vintage piece of uranium/vaseline glass that I believe dates to the 1930's. After researching it I think it is a fern vase or pot done with a Greek Key design. It may have had a flower frog that sat inside the top of it at one point (which I don't have) and it also may have been made by LE Smith glass company but I am not sure of that because I can't find the reference material I had used online to identify it previously. This glows quite well under a black light as you can see from the one picture I have posted currently. I will have more pictures posted by Tuesday evening. There is no damage to this piece that I can find. It would make a lovely edition to any collectors case.
I CAN NOT ship this for free so please do not ask me to. Unfortunately the post office has raised their rates again as well. I ship USPS to the USA only currently, with tracking. I do combine shipping when possible and I ship once a week. You will need to provide your zip code for a combined quote. I take paypal only for shipping payments! DO NOT bid if you don't have paypal! All my items come from a smoke free and pet friendly (dog/cat) home. All of my items are sold as! If you have any questions please ask them before placing a bid. I do not refund credits for buyer's remorse so be sure you really want this before bidding. I follow all of listia's rules so be sure you know them and are prepared to follow them as well. All rude comments will be flagged and users leaving them will be blocked. Be sure to fan me for upcoming auctions. Happy bidding!

Hey there! Nice of you to stop by. 9 weeks was consumed by tech school, but I finished up yesterday. So yay I'm free again for listia and as soon as the state issues my certificate I can start working again too...

How big is it

I am giving an estimated guess at the moment of maybe 4-5 inches tall and about the same wide. I'll update the listing tomorrow with the exact dimensions when I add the other pictures. I have to unpack it to take the other non black light pictures and I always measure things as well in photographs for my own reference.

Didn't you use to save your green stamps to collect the green pink ank yellow colors? I'm pretty sure you would get a piece with your grits or oatmeal too.

Yea you would. But no didn't save those stamps because I don't currently have anything in yellow or pink.

Hi, I think this might be a toothpick holder. My grand parents used to collect antique glassware, and they had a lot of toothpick holders, and they were the same size as this. Just thought I might let you know.

Thanks and I collect a lot of glassware and also deal in it. Most tooth pick holders are actually more like 2.5 - 3 inches I have several (this pot is 3.5 inches) and they also don't have as wide of opening as this does more like 1.5 - 2.5 across. This piece though I am certian is not a tooth pick holder, it is as what I described it as, which is a fern pot or planter, and it originally had a flower frog that sat inside of it which is why it has a bit a lip around the edge where the flower frog would have sat (which a tooth pick holder wouldn't have). I put I wasn't sure of that only because the reference material I found that info in, I could no longer access and it was more of a CYA in case someone had buyers remorse. Another listian confirmed they thought they saw the same thing with a lid, and the flower frog does somewhat look like a lid because it sat down inside so again I am sure this is what I described it as, I just can't prove that with literature to support it. Thank you for your opinion though and wanting to be helpful.

This is very pretty. I think I've seen them before with some sort of lid though. I'd love this for my collection of vaseline/uranium glass!

It wasn't a lid exactly, it was a flower frog that sat inside the opening to stick the pieces of fern plants into. I saw one as well under the completed listings on ebay (where I do a lot of research) but that was several months ago and I couldn't find the same completed auction again when listing this. After a certain amount of time goes by the older completed listings drop off the list on ebay.

Thank you and glad you like it! :) I think I fanned you all ready but if not I will now. If you have stronger black lights in your display case it will glow better than in this picture. I realized I was using a smaller weaker bulb than I usually do to take pics. I have three cases in my house with vaseline but only one of them is mine and they all take different bulbs so just grabbed the closet one which was also the weakest.

Oh ok, that makes sense. Thanks!

Your welcome... it is kind of like a lid just combined with a flower frog. After looking at it again I see it has a lip for what looks like a lid. So without seeing one complete in person to know for sure an educated guess would be it is a combo of both. It is hard to tell from pictures which is all I have seen. ;)
