yes legal install of windows xp pro, the sticker on bottom was used to register it.
It does not come with books or user manuals or cd's does have service pack 3 installed -
if the winner would like i can make a copy of the xp pro cd that will work with the license
on bottom to include with the laptop

ok I told you dumb question! Duh me! I know what that is....anyway I have the Microsoft office professional disc for her so that's not a problem at all. I'm worried when I load that will it be able to handle Windows 7 when I upgrade it. Or should it be fine for what it needs to be now? something for her to take to school, write essays, reports, email professors. etc......screw it bidding anyway. it works fine as it is - but i do not know what her requirements are for school she may be needing 7 - yes this computer can handle it with 7 you can not do an upgrade from xp - only the upgrade from vista to 7 works - on 7 you will have to do whats called a clean install meaning it will overwrite and erase any files on it so if she uses it for awhile before upgrading to 7 please back up her files (pics, documents, etc.) before doing the 7

well it is office pro but the 2007 version on here, a pen drive is a little usb hard drive you carry in your pocket 16gb worth of storage. for college she will probably be needing windows 7 its kinda awkward right now as windows 8 and 8.1 are flops they will be coming out with a new windows 9 in April 2015 that will bring back all the programs in the start menu again. this laptop should be more then enough for her classes and at the college she can purchase the office and win 7 if needed as they offer discount pricing on the student software at the schools

No the ati x300 graphics is onboard meaning it's not switchable but is still decent to watch dvd's or movies on just not made for high-end games

if the ram is improperly seated, the laptop can have issues with display, same goes for the processor or graphics card, all three work together. an issue in one spot can cause an issue with all of it.

on that laptop you have for sale you say the display does not work because of the ram? ram has nothing to do with the display, it is either a bad invertor board or bad lcd or cabling i know i am electronics tech for over 10yrs
