The listing, Stunning Bolo-Tie Agate has ended.

3 x 2 in. I do not know much about it, but the eldery man it belonged to passed on over 30 years ago. It looks like it is set in silver-plate, the back looks like copper. The only markings are a crooked 'A' in a circle scratched on the back and the clasp reads "BENNETT PAT. PEND. C 31". I do not see any cracks or scratches on the stone but the setting is very worn and it does NOT come with the tie. The stone would make an impressive pendant or belt buckle. I am in the dark on this one, please tell me if you have more info. Thanks 4 lookin'

I thought I answered back, but I did it the wrong way, again! I think 'Bolo Ties' started with cowboys braiding some leather, putting it around thier collar and then fashioning some kind of decoration to hold it together at the front, kinda like the windsor knot in a regular tie. They used carved or cut stone, wood & horns. I have seen coins, arrowheads, and just about anything a guy thinks looks good. They are western attire like boots and fancy belt buckles!! This one is a nice, large slice of agate(stone) in a formal, ornate setting which makes unique. Hope I cleared up the confusion.

Confused?? I think the bolo tie started with cowboys. Usually a thin braid of leather held together at the collar with a decoration. Can be just about anything: torquoise, Agate, coin, carving, anything he likes. I think this slice of agate in a formal setting is larger and fancier than most. Hope that helps, I fanned you.

This is beautiful, here in the southwest, this kind of stuff is like gold. I fanned you, now I am gonna check out the other lady's auctions too, I have several auctions, but mine are mostly acessories like a mans wallet and a gift box set with a watch and key fob and money clip, nothing as awesome as you have.

I got my bolo from my grampa 40+ years ago, it has an actual scorpion inside.
