This is for an iPhone 3GS 8 gig model. The phone has a bad esn number so cannot be turned on but still functions as an iPod touch! Could also be used as a parts phone. 1) ATT does not use ESN. I think you mean IEMI
2) This is a 3GS so there should never be an issue with bad IEMI
3) If the iPhone 3GS is really unlocked, then for sure there should not be any issue with the IEMI

How was the iPhone unlocked? Was it factory unlocked or jailbreak unlock?

imei and esn are essentially the same thing. so yes it has a bad esn/imei number. why in the world would i put that if its not true. not jailbroken factory unlock. the phone was replaced via a claim and disabled through the carrier. so will not function as a phone.

Does it get apps like Instagram, kik, whatsapp, facebook, pandora, etc? I know some phones aren't up to a certain version and cannot use certain of these apps.

yes all of these apps are available for this phone. just have to sign in with your apple id and get them from the store.
