The Air Jordan brand of shoes revived the Nike brand in 1984. Inspect the box the shoes come in. Real Jordan sneakers will have a sticker that says "Do Not Launch Before" and then it will list a date. The sticker on the box will read the full name of the shoe and will not contain acronyms.

Open the box and inspect the paper wrapping the shoes. Authentic Jordan sneakers will use a heavy brown paper while fakes often use a soft white tissue paper.

Inspect the tongue of the shoes with your fingers. Authentic Jordans will have a stiff tongue that does not flop or fold without pressure. Fake Jordan sneakers tongues often wilt or fold with a light touch.

Inspect the colors on the sides of the shoes. Authentic Jordan sneakers will have distinct borders separating different colors. Fake Jordan sneakers often have colors that blend into one another or bleed.

Look at the symbol on the sneaker that represents Michael Jordan jumping. Authentic Jordan sneakers will have this logo embroidered onto the sneaker, not painted.

Inspect the embroidery of the jump logo. Authentic logos have four fingers on each of Jordan's hands and laces embroidered into his shoes.

Reach into the sneaker and try to remove the insoles with your fingers. In most authentic Jordan sneaker brands the insole cannot be removed with your fingers.

Scrape the sole of the sneaker with your finger nail. Authentic Jordan sneakers use carbon fiber soles that do not bend easily. If you bend the sole easily or scrape any paint off the sole than the sneaker is fake.

Pull the white tag away from the inside of the shoe with your fingers. Inspect the tag for perforations. Authentic Jordan sneakers have a smooth white tag with no cuts or perforations.
