Personally, I wouldn't shorten it as it's made out of material like nylon... which means it will most likely fray.

This auction still has 11 days to it and chances of someone else coming in and bidding on it are really high. People love these collars and I've never gotten a complaint on them... thus my going out looking for more to put up... :-) Hang in there... I'm quite positive someone will come along and overbid on your bid...
