The 1943 steel cent,also known as a steelie,was a variety of the U.S. one cent coin which was struck in steel due to wartime shortages of copper. Front design- Abraham Lincoln. Back design- wheat heads in memorial style. Years in mint-1943. Composition-100% steel with a thin layer of zinc. Designer- Victor D. Brenner.
