Thank you for being concerned about the pain factor. I'm usually the "guinea pig" for my pets...and kids. I'm a paramedic. I don't want pain if it's unnecessary. You're awesome!

It was painless. I did it to my toe nail because he didn't like it. For those who have had artificial nails put on. You need to go slow. Don't keep the grinder on them. It gets hot. My dog did even like the vibration. My friend's dog and cats get their nails done this way. It's why we bought one. They do fine. It does take her about 30 min. so it doesn't get too hot for them.
It's like any sander, it will heat up and you have to be cautious of that. Her animals lay there and she does it while she watches TV. No drama.

You have to have a separate a attachmentenent. They are sandpaper. Gives you a much finer grain.
