I get this question quite often....I have an ebay store and I sell ALOT of jeans. When you buy a size 26, you are going by your ACTUAL waist size. What you want to look at is if it is a low rise pair of shorts. The rise...this is the measurement taken in the front between the crotch and the top of the waistband. The lower the number in inches, the lower it sits on your hips. So while it might be a size 26, it MEASURES 29" at the waistband of the shorts. I hope this helps. :)
