Linux being a free and open source operating system there's no proprietary hurdles to leap, I'm just realizing that not every one can deal with ISO files and get them burnt correctly. Kubuntu is the same as Ubuntu except it has the KDE plasma desktop included for a rich interactive desktop

I haven't a clue what you are talking about but I totally relate to the part about "proprietary hurdles" as I have never been able to use my office windows because of some GD code I don't know where it went(probably was in the orig. package from Walmart Computer but meanwhile all these yrs I haven't been able to use Office WindowsAnd if someone sends me a file in MS Windows, I can't open it without the secret password! Very annoying!Further, I have had an attack on my computer, and I've added at least 3 security programs! Lol!! My son says it's overkill and "DON"T USE WINDOWS MA!! Ya don't need it!! " (I love to stack new tabs, Lol! And I bounce back and forth from Listia , to Ebay to Facebook and wherever else Haha!! So my computer kinda looks like my desk!! Stuff all piled up everywhere!! Now , my computer is so overloaded I got a warning!! "You have 38 MB of memory left, do you want to continue? Or would you like to delete a program you aren't using?" Hahaha!!!

correction, it opens all the win office files from excel, power point word, etc. doesn't get virus's, and should get you a better handle on your hard drive space.

Oh I get your question above now Listerena. a duel core and 2GB of ram to install Kubuntu. that would be an acceptable machine for it. if you have less, I can tailor an earlier release to work more smoothly on your specific machine.
