This is an action camera and is simple to operate, too easy, just slide to "On" to record, it has a switch for HD (1280 x 720 @ 30fps) or SD (640 X 480 @ 60fps), I use
this as an accident cam with windshield mount, it views like a Hero cam fish eye" but not as noticable as the hero.

MegaPixels is a term used with still photos only. Video quality is NOT measured in megapixels, it is measures in resolution - the description you gave HD (1280 x 720 @ 30fps) or SD (640 X 480 @ 60fps) is the quality of video.

The one that went for 38k had the waterproof housing... does this one and if so, what's the depth rating? I have an action shot and it's housing only does 10 ft.

Yes you are right that the other one had a housing for the camera sorry, this one has 2 mounts, I just bought the second mount and is still in a package.

I have No Idea what the Megapixels of the lens is...I can't find that info. anywhere but the clarity is crystal clear ........search for yourself, even the manual doesn't say :(
