The listing, MAD SUPER SPECIAL NUMBER 26 - 01/01/1978 has ended.
When Mad became a magazine in 1955, it achieved a success previously unseen at EC Comics. Publisher William M. Gaines’s friend Lyle Stuart convinced Gaines to repackage older material into a larger square bound magazine with an added bonus and title it The Worst From Mad. Then came More Trash From Mad and Mad Follies. There were so many specials that in 1970, Mad canceled them all and replaced them with the Mad Super Special, which ran for many years before MadXL replaced it. The Super Specials were great because of their comic book reprint inserts, various flexi-records, and numerous posters, many by artist Don Martin.
