would you like to be my friend on email,,it was very interesting watching them from the outfits they wore to them going to their tents to them getting ready to do their reenactment with their guns and canon,s the canon,s were the best when they all went of at once.

Sure, that sounds great! I know what you mean about the cannons. I went to Fort Donelson and watched them shoot the cannons! I can only imagine the ringing of the ears or worse of those who fired them. I always wondered if they used some form of hearing protection in the civil war? Did they have a drummer boy during the reenactment too as well as a bugler?

I apologize for taking so long about responding again! I had to go out of town for a couple of days to my mother's house to mow and clean up her yard and do some other thing she needed to get done. I just got back home. As soon as I get things caught up around my place here I will be glad to converse some more with you! Thanks again I really appreciate it!

As for your question regarding ear protection, yes, they often twisted scraps of cloth or wads of carded cotton in their ears. The cotton was similar to what the wadding used in the munitions.

I kinda figured they would have to use some form of ear protection. Thanks for the info I appreciate it very much!
