You are so right! I still cry when I watch the recorded 3 hour footage of the 911 calls and the horrible events of that day!! A lot of really great people sacrificed their lives that day!! I haven't been able to go and visit the monument and wall with all the names, but I plan to!! Thanks for your comment!! I always think of Lee Greenwood's song, especially this time of year nearing the 4th of July, "I'M PROUD TO BE AN AMERICAN WHERE AT LEAST I KNOW I"M FREE" I will gladly stand up and salute those who paid the cost to make that possible!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Every year we have some great bands and they always do this song and start the fireworks display while the song is being sung! It is so moving, you can't help but cry thinking of all the brave souls who gave their all for the people and the great USA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yes it is great! We have the World's Biggest Fish Fry Parade every year in Paris the last week in April. Bands and people come from all over! I have even seen license plates from Alaska before. The parade lasts about 3 hours. The carnival is going on all that same week too. I forget exactly how many thousands of pounds of catfish they cook each year during the fish fry, I know it is a lot. The only problem is the long lines waiting to get fish and all the trimmings to go with it! They also have rodeo, demolition derby, and monster truck rally that week also!

Paris, Tennessee, home of the World's Biggest Fish Fry. I was born in Oak Park, Illinois, a suburb of Chicago. Parents decided to move when I was about 5 or 6. Lived in Paris most of my life, about 3 years in Urichville, Ohio, now residing in Union City, Tennessee, about a 45 minute drive from Paris. Down at the lake at Paris Landing State Park on the 4 of July they always have several bands playing, all kinds of food to eat, they have a fireworks display that last about an hour and a half or two! A lot of people just gather out on their boats, all lit up and watch the fireworks from their boats, they can hear the music too. You are better off camping out there so all you have to do is walk back to your camper or tent after the fireworks is over, because there are so many people, traffic gets really backed up when everyone leaves! Except for that it is very enjoyable! Just bring your blanket or lawn chairs and pick out a spot and relax!
