There are no gears or moving parts in a quartz or "battery" watch, so by being able to see gears inside this watch, you can safely assume it is a mechanical / wind-up watch !!!

I don't know much about watches..! This I do know ! it is NEW ! you can see the works in the dial and from the back of the watch It has never been used or opened and I don't know !!!! but I'm going to say battery ..that's all I can tell you ! When you wind it, does it make a sound like it's winding something? Are the works on the back just decorative?

on the back is a glass so you can see inside and I am not sure how it works I've never used it I think it could be battery ..but I.m not going to open it to find out ..IT is new and has never been used or opened ..!

You don't have to open it to tell if it is a battery operated watch.

On the top of the watch, sitting there like a crown, is a stem. If you pull it out a little, it spins and is used to set the time on the lighter. But that's not what we want to do.

Leave the stem pushed in as normal, and just turn it a rotation or so. If you hear clicking, like winding a watch, you probably got a gear watch, with works any movement. If it just spins, you have a battery-operated watch.

Knowing whether it is battery or windup could be the difference between a 3000 point auction and a 30,000 point auction. You really want to know the answer.
