This movie has become a classic in family entertainment.

With her husband off at war the mother, played by Susan Sarandon, is left to raise her 4 daugters all alone by herself and to experience the hardships as well as the joys that come with such a monumental task.

A story of sisters growing up together in a family, sharing their hopes and dreams with each other and experiencing the good and the bad of growing up as all families do. As the years pass by the sisters share some of their most cherished as well as painful moments of self-discovery as they become women.

The movie is based on the story of the book with the same title. "Little Women" was written by Louisa May Alcott in 1868. It was such a tremendous hit with the public that they begged for more about these 4 women and so she wrote another book entitled "Good Wives."

In 1880 the 2 books were combined into 1 book under the title "Little Women"
