This is a 1977 Topps card for Hall of Famer GENE UPSHAW of the Oakland Raiders.

"Uptown Gene" is the only player ever to play in the Super Bowl in 3 different decades with the same team. A 3-time All-AFL (pre-merger) and 6 time Pro Bowler, Upshaw was named as a first team All-Pro 3 times and was named as the guard on the NFL's 75th Anniversary All-Time team.
Upshaw died of pancreatic cancer in August 2008 at age 63, only 3 days after being diagnosed with the illness.
