I'm not quit sure. I think the chemicals in it would danger blonde hair if you kept it in as long as the directions say.

My other comment must've not gone through. it's not too old I bought it recently when I went through a 'red phase' with my hair. Oddly enough I went ash brown. Maybe the stores here have more variety? I bought it from Sally's beauty salon store.
