The bayonet is a genuine US Military Issue M7 Bayonet. The bayonet was manufactured by the Bauer Ordinance Corporation (BOC) with the USM8A1 Scabbard which was manufactured by VIZ. The first issue date was 1961 and 1962 by Universal Industries of West Haven, CT. The bayonet – knife was for use with the M16 assault rifle and also used on U.S. issue combat shotguns, such as the Remington 870 and the Mossberg 500 and 590. The bayonet was used by the US Government in 1964. The wartime issue bayonet inside the scabbard measures 13.5” and outside the scabbard the bayonet knife measures one foot or 12” in length.
