Nice postcard! I have a friend who grew up in Wilkes-Barre! I looked it up on a PA map and couldn't find it and finally made him spell it for me since it isn't spelled at all how he pronounces it, LOL!

When we moved here from NYC, I heard all kinds of pronunciations.
Wilkes Bar, Wilkes Berry, and Wilkes Bear.
After living here for 15 years, I believe it is Wilkes Berry. It is named after 2 English politicians from the 18th century. Wilkes and Barre.

I'd love to win this and send it to my father. He was born and raised in Wilkes Barre, Pennsylvania in 1945 until he moved to New York. What it looks like today is completely different from when he last lived there. I went on Google Earth once to show him the street he grew up in and such and he couldn't believe the changes.
