Description

The listing, Aloe Vera Offshoot has ended.

Young healthy offshoot from mature Aloe Vera plant. Will include 5 or more leaves, and will be shipped moist. The medicinal properties of Aloe vera have been known and recorded since biblical times. It has been used for a variety of ailments, and as an ointment for burns, cuts, and rashes, as well as an ingredient in various beauty preparations..Aloes have a shallow, spreading root system so when it is time to repot choose a wide planter, rather than a deep one. Use a planter with a drainage hole, or provide a 1-2 inch layer of gravel in the bottom of the pot to ensure adequate drainage. Use a good commercial potting mix with extra perlite, granite grit, or coarse sand added. You may also use a packaged 'cacti mix' soil. Will need to be planted upon receipt, and kept moist for roots to take. Will be shipped without medium, but kept moist.

I do not eat it as I find it a bit bitter, but people do drink Aloe juice, and I had a friend who ate something too hotly spiced and blistered her mouth, and chewed on a leaf of one, on and off for a few hours to relieve the pain and to help heal the blisters. I use mine primarily for a decorative plant, and for cuts and burns medicinally. I am a very pale skinned blonde so do burn easily, and this is the best relief on sun burned skin I have found. If I get cut in the garden, I use a piece off a leaf both as antiseptic, and to start the healing.

Major health benefits of aloe vera
Fights cancer. Published studies have shown that aloe vera has properties that increase anti-tumor potential and, when coupled with superfoods such as spirulina and alternative therapies as suggested by a naturopathic professional, its health benefits can be even more profound.(1)

Regulates blood sugar levels. Aloe vera can be helpful in managing blood sugar levels, making it particularly ideal for those with diabetes. Some studies have indicated that juice from the gel may help lower blood sugar levels in people who have type 2 diabetes.(2)

Boosts skin health. The succulent plant has substances called polysaccharides and glycoproteins, which according to the University of Maryland Medical Center (UMMC), help to ease pain and inflammation while also playing a role in skin repair and growth.(2) It's for this reason that using it as a face cream can improve skin's appearance and that it's also effective in providing relief from burns, insect bites and even poison ivy.(3)

Reduces arthritis pain. Aloe vera can reduce pain associated with inflammation internally, making it a go-to option for those seeking relief from conditions such as arthritis.(1)

Improves air quality. Rather than rely on commercial air freshening products in which sprays and oils contain toxic chemicals that are bad for the body, consider buying a few aloe vera plants. They act as an air purifier, capable of clearing formaldehyde and benzene, toxins that are eye and lung irritants typically found in the home primarily in pressed wood and other products.(4,5)

Consider reaping the many benefits of aloe vera today. The plant is an affordable, effective way to boost overall health naturally.
