5+ Japanese Cherry Tree seeds
Great for Bonsai!!

Japanese cherry trees (Prunus serrulata) belong to the rose family and are known for their masses of white and pink spring blossoms. These flowering ornamental trees grow best in U.S. Department of Agriculture plant hardiness zones 5 through 8. The floral display of Japanese cherry trees nearly overwhelms the yard. Learning about these beautiful trees will help a gardener grow a healthy tree.

Many Japanese cherry trees reach 25 feet tall, while others grow to 50 feet tall with a canopy spreading up to 40 feet wide. In their native habitat, these trees can reach 75 feet tall with the right care. Shorter dwarf forms of Japanese cherry trees are available, usually grafted onto dwarf rootstock.

Japanese cherry trees grow well in acidic soil with good drainage. Locations with full sun tend to produce better flowering displays. Water the trees for the first summer after planting to encourage the development of a deep root system. Feed the trees with slow-release, general purpose fertilizer in the spring before new growth appears on the trees.
