the watch itself has a stainless steel backing, shown in photo #5
the heart however is not fully enclosed in order to get to the watch if needed ie. to replace a battery etc.... hope this helps! Last blue one was gin'd, winner left nice feedback... She was very happy as she told me they sell for $50+ on sites she found
