Description

The listing, Necklace & Earrings Amazonite like Turquoise has ended.

What is Amazonite? Well it is a type of feldspar. It is similar looking to Turquoise and sometimes can be expensive. It is beautiful in this necklace which has been accented with copper. It was handmade by me. The stones are faceted.

Enhances creative expression, aligns astral bodies, unity with life. Improves self worth. Amazonite is considered a soothing stone that offers confidence and works on the throat chakra. It is called the "hope stone" because it inspires confidence and hope.

A semi-opaque stone that was used extensively by the Egyptians it is called the stone of courage and is said to be named after the Amazon women warriors. Some archaeological evidence suggests that the Amazonians were a matriarchal society during the Bronze Age.

Another legend says the name Amazonite comes from the belief that it was found in the Amazon river.

This is a beautiful necklace and earring set. Don't miss out on it.

Beautiful! Amazonite comes from many locations including Calif.,New Mexico,Idaho and fine gemstone quality in Penn. and Va. as well..Best is supposed to come from Russia. Can come in a variety of colors, but I think the bluish green is the prettiest.

"Amazonite like turquoise" what does that mean?are you saying this is turquoise? Nope.
you say in the description that this IS amazonite? Nope.
Amazonite is not opague, like this- but more sheer. Its color is a sheer blue with a touch of green, or a pale green with a touch of blue in it.
Natural Amazonite has the blue greens color, white, black and in certain strains it has browns and golds. This could be a Magnasite dyed to try and look like amazonite but it doesn't even look close. It may be some gemstone I am not familiar with but it is not amazonite.
I am sorry but I am skeptical of all the "gemologists" that come on here each month (about 10) and they come and go.
I don't like folks that mislead bidders with "guesses" and claim to have degrees. You must read a lot on the net, but please be sure what you are listing, and don't guess. Not to be mean- but I think this is mean to do to bidders who have no idea about gemstones, to just guess like this.

I have never mislead anyone on here. I was told it was amazonite when I purchased the beads and put it together. I certainly paid plenty for the stones, $30.00 for all of them. When I say like turquoise, I'm meaning the color of it. Not saying it is turquoise. It could be magnasite dyed, but I wouldn't know. It was purchased at a bead store. Thanks for your info. I am a amateur hobbyist that have been collecting and diggiing for a lot of my stones. This one I did not dig. I didn't say I had a degree. My ex-husband and I used to collect stones, then polish and cut them and he sat a lot of the stones we got into jewelry. He did a great deal of lapidary work and we had all the tools for it. Were we both gemologists? No, but we certainly worked with them a lot. I am not on here to mislead anyone. I can only put what I was told it was.

It's also not like I am putting this on to start with a high bid. The money I have in it, along with the copper I set it in, cost me money. I'm giving these away.

I just wanted to add, anyone wondering about this stone, go to Fire Mountain Gems and call up Amazonite beads, faceted. There are some on there right now that are opaque like these stones. They do not have the other mineral running through, but they are opaque. I don't understand why some people are "mean" on here, especially when people are giving things away. I don't mislead anyone and never have.

That woman doesn't know what she is talking about. It very much looks like amazonite to me. I have a couple of pieces of amazonite jewerly and it looks like this. AND yes it CAN be opaque in color.

This is very beautiful and is a great gift to anyone who wins it!
