Description

The listing, 10 Garlic Chive PLANTS ! has ended.

Winner will receive TEN (10) Garlic Chive PLANTS! ! !

Garlic Chives have wide flat leaves and a bulb similar to a skinny green onion underground.

As you can see I have quite a patch. They are wonderful fresh or dried.

You can even eat or cook with the blossoms! ! Google Garlic Chives and you will find many uses for them ! !

I will dig and trim them (to fit in the shipping envelope) as soon as the auction is won.

After your cuttings are established and growing, if you do not want them to spread, harvest the white blossoms BEFORE they set seed. (use them in salads or cooking).

Garlic chives are very suitable for container gardening. In northern states (after the first hard frost) put container in a garage until spring (or If left outside, cover with a plastic bag and uncover when temp. reaches 40F) and they will sprout next spring.

In open ground they are perennial and will return year after year. After a few years you may have to dig, divide and separate. (and share ! ! !)

If you want seeds from them let the flowers go to seed and collect them before they have a chance to drop.

In order to ship free I will trim them to fit in the mailing envelope. These plants are over 2 feet tall not including the flowers which are even taller.

If you don't want them trimmed let me know and you can pay the extra shipping charges.

If you have any questions feel free to ask.

No buyers remorse.

All Listia rules apply.

Will ship to VERIFIED Listia address USA only/Local pick up also available.

I always wanted to try to grow garlic, I live in south Mississippi and I don't know how good they would grow in a warmer climate but I will google it and find out . Thanks for listing these! Fanned you and bidding. Fan back :)

Hi! Just want to let you know this is not GARLIC that will produce the familiar clump of cloves. This is garlic CHIVES a totally different plant.

Garlic chives will not produce the large bulb you may be thinking of. This produces a bulb no larger than a green stem onion and of course the long flat green "leaves" and white flowers that are also edible.

Garlic chives are great for flavoring salad, throwing in a pot of chili, spaghetti or any other dish that needs garlic flavor!

The flowers are also decorative and edible.

REAL GARLIC is a bulb grown for the cloves that separate and can be crushed and used in cooking.

Please google both to see the differences. I would not want you to bid on this thinking it is something else.

Garlic Chives are very hardy in cold states (Michigan--me!!) and will grow all the way through warmer states. Grows everywhere!

You can dig it like green stem onions always leaving some to keep the patch going. Or you can cut off the green flat tops at ground level, rinnse them off, chop them up and use them fresh or cooked.

You can dry them in an oven or dehydrator or freeze them for later use! Very versatile herb!

I hope I clarified this for you. I don't want you to receive something you did not want. Thanks for your interest!~~Rosie

Congratulations on being included in the Buffalo in Bloom!

Not to worry, I plan to list until I get that patch under control again! It is a little too large. I agree about gardening being relaxing.

I do use my garlic chives and they do give a wonderful flavor to food.

Thanks for stopping by and good luck bidding!!!
