The listing, SPIDER LILY BULBS (Lycoris radiata) "Fall Blooming" 3 Fresh Bulbs has ended.

For auction are 3 freshly dug Red Spider Lily Bulbs. These fall bloomers are related to another favorite of mine, the Amaryllis. They are drought tolerant and survive to -10 degrees. Please ask if you have questions before you bid!
The winning bidder will receive 3 bulbs of various size.

Wow, those are pretty! I am in zone 5 (s'east Mich.) we lean more toward the -20 sometimes. Do you think if I plant them deeper they may survive???? And how deep do YOU plant them??? Thanks!

Goodness! -20 is mighty chilly! The temps here in Oklahoma rarely even get into the single digits. Sometimes, but as a rule, not much. HOWEVER... I have other bulbs that cannot tolerate brutal cold. What I do in this case is pull the bulbs after they bloom in the Autumn and let them dry out. Then I store them in a pillow case in a dark and dry place until the spring.

Do they produce leaf bud clones like the tiger lily?

Yes, they produce a small bulb from an adult root system. Does that make sense? lol

Actually, what I meant is the 1/4" buds that form at the base of each leaf starting about 1/3 of the way UP the stem, above ground, all the way up to the flowers. They start off green, and, drop off the plant after turning brownish/black. Each one takes 3 years to develop into a large flowering bulb. Tiger lilies do produce seeds, but, the clone buds are more reliable.

Then I would say no. I have not seen this on these plants. They spread below ground and also will produce seeds. Sorry I'm probably not helping you! lol
