Description

The listing, Antique & Vintage Buttons has ended.

This auction is for a small flat rate box full of antique & vintage buttons. I will choose random buttons from the pictures I have posted (I do have more buttons).

What the winner will receive will be an awesome collection of quality buttons. I will let the winner decide if they do not want a certain type or size of buttons. I cannot offer all colored buttons.

Bakelite, Victorian Black Glass, Mother of Pearl, Lucite, Military, Metal, Wood, Rhinestone, Bone and some others.

What the winner won't get is a lot of common buttons, all one color, cloth, cracked, chipped or rusty buttons. Also, I will not put items in the mix just to add weight to the package!

Sizes range from 1/8" to 2 1/2". Shank backs, 2 and 4 hole buttons.

Please also understand the winner may not receive many matching pairs.

All Listia rules apply.

Still Free Shipping : )

F&W and just bid! Beautiful buttons. I once had earrings made from a pair of 1950s German buttons. Pairs that match would be great, although I know much harder to find. And hello from West Michigan!

i use a lot of wabi sabi buttons in my artwork. rusted and chipped paint or dented or otherwise marred buttons are my favorites. Don't throw them out. You could offer them separately, perhaps?

I just started getting into mosaics. Also, I bought a small welder this past summer to add to my tools. I could spend more $ on tools than girly stuff! I'm an engineer by trade and artistic genes run in my family.

Wanted to make a bridezilla outfit for Halloween but my mom threw out the old wedding dress I picked up at a sale. Seriously bummed...next year though!

I do love using beads, buttons, driftwood, vintage items, etc. in some of my art work. I wish I would have took pictures of everything I have made over the years!

Love all the red ones you included in the selection. Awesome!! I agree with you about the shell buttons. I have gotten some very unusual ones lately that I have seen in books that I am putting in my secret stash. I made a bracelet the other day with silver links and put mother of pearl shank buttons in the center of the silver link. It turned out really pretty. Hoping it sells this weekend at my craft show. I also made some rings yesterday with some small glass buttons. They are really cute. Looks like you have a lot of interested folks in this auction and you will do good. Thanks again for sharing!!

The larger red buttons are bakelite : )
Hope you do well at your craft show. Check out Pinterest, I just found a beautiful pattern for a button bracelet using 4 hole buttons & crystal beads.
I'm also a bead collector!

I have been blessed with my mother's love of vintage items. So I don't mind sharing with others. Older buttons are getting so hard to find. About 2 months ago, my step-dad's sister gave her a large cookie tin packed full of buttons. I got to pick out the buttons I wanted after her.

I will add more pairs. Their is a set of 5 black glass buttons, 3 glass red, white and blue, several matching pearl buttons, 6 blue bakelite on card, several pairs of matching red buttons and more.
Most of the bigger buttons I only had one of. Those ones are excellent for purses, totes, etc.
There are some buttons in there that are over 100 yrs old.

Have a little more room in the box. I have a great selection of bakelite, lucite, celluloid and other vintage plastic buttons. I do not have many metal buttons, glass, or shell buttons. Some people do not like metal buttons so I didn't add many. Glass buttons are harder to find but I could add some more if the bidding goes up. Same goes for the shell buttons. Please help me finish filling up the box!

Luckily, no snow yet! Original forecast said today. Now saying Thursday night and into Friday. We do get lake effect snow but Lake Michigan is still "warm" enough right now to be zapping the storms crossing it into rain.

I was born & raised in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Moved up north to Kalkaska in 1988 then moved to the U.P. about 3 yrs ago. My family is originally from the U.P. The ice storms are awful downstate! Even with four-wheel drive, there is nothing you can do when you start sliding on black ice!

F&W...I plan on bidding even though I already have may too many buttons, but I think a person can never have way too many buttons. Especially when you get an assortment in the mail and not really sure what all is in it. Love going thru buttons. It's like therapy for me. These are really some great buttons! Especially since I collect them. Thanks for listing these.

You can never have too many buttons! My favorite are the darker carved shell buttons. The hues in the colors are so beautiful. The larger ones make great focal points in a pendant. I also love the small cat eye buttons with a back shank. I crochet small flowers and use them as the center.

I agree with you 100% that going through buttons is like therapy! I have carpal tunnel in both of my arms and it does help some.

Fanned you back : )

Hi, I use buttons in my cross-stitch as embellishments, so it would be so cool to win something like this that has different and old fashioned buttons. I am also in Upper Michigan!! F&W

I used to cross-stitch a lot! But I have carpal tunnel in both wrists so my cross-stitching is very minimal now.
Buttons can be used for many things. My mom has been making miniature Christmas trees and using a vintage wooden spool for the base. Very pretty and each one is unique.
I like to make button bracelets and just found a new pattern from Bead & Button that I'm going to try next.
Thanks so much for checking out my auction. It is getting really hard to find nice vintage buttons without having to pay big bucks. I have so many that I don't mind sharing with people who appreciate them on Listia : )

I have found I am getting infatuated with buttons lately, like an allergy I guess I have developed it over time LOL Love the selection you have as well! I saw a DIY project where they did a lamp shade in all types of buttons, it was really beautiful! Already your fan so I'm watching :)

Fanned back! When I was really young, my mother used to go to rummage sales. I hated it! Now, I love going to estate, rummage and flea markets. You never know what treasure you might find! I collect unusal items or broken vintage items to incorporate them into my art work. I don't like calling it crafting because I have a set vision in my crazy mind in what I want to make. Sometimes it takes me years to gather all the items I need.
