1929 Hamilton wrist watch. I found this at an estate sale and it still works. Silver but not stamped that I can see. It has an ingraving on the back that says HJHTO IMH XMAS'29. Very detailed work. Really neat very old watch.

Questions & Comments

How well does the watch keep time?
Do you have to shake it in order for it to work?
Does it run as it should, or does it only run for like 10 seconds?
Do you have the cord or bracelet that goes with the watch? Do you have the box?

It keeps time perfect, it has to be wound to work though, no you don't have to shake it, I don't have the bracelet for it and I don't have the box.

Its not automatic so in order for it to keep time you have to wind it.

Pop the case back...what mvt is it? Just pop it. Then you can see what you really have!

I have the perfect band for that watch too...if you like...if it would help your cause I can list it. And Hamilton rocks but Mary1301 is very true in regards to ladies hamilton. My friend has a platinum hamilton with over 4cts of beautiful diamonds and people just wont pay what their worth. Hence most get scrapped..

Don't feel bad someone had a GIN on some 2 collectible watches that are comparative to Rolex on the same auction for 150k for a huge watch lot and they were in it. The watches were in great condition and would have sold easily for 10-20k$$

So I have reason to believe this is a 1929 watch, 17 jewel, 989 movement, Chevy Chase case design C. You'll find it 2/3 down the way of this 1929 Catalog. http://vintagewatchforums.com/viewtopic.php?p=590

What's more, this is solid 14K white gold. (read description in catalog)

However, there is little collector interest in ladies Hamilton watches (even if working), and I believe the estimation of $500-$1000 is inaccurate. Most in this range, at least according to eBay, have diamonds and platinum or the watch's full accouterments. For money prospects, the best bet is probably the smelter (although, in itself the proportions of the Chevy Chase makes it an unusual, attractive watch).

If ftriendady cannot un-list this auction, I hope she at least gets the best bids.
