In the second picture, it looks like a clip of sorts, but the title says sponge... I'm wondering if it is a sponge donut thing or a clip? Sorry if this sounds like a stupid question but I just want to make sure...

No it doesn't have a clip and it's not a donut, it's a long foam (sponge) tool that u put ur ponytail in and roll it up into a nice fluffy bun, it's very easy I have one and luv it.
